The premise of this project addresses the ambition of the online mortgage provider BETTER.com to address not only the complexity of obtaining the financing for a home acquisition but also provide their customers with an intelligently and sustainably designed home. The project brief asked for a series of modular house options that could be customized to fit the individual requirements of the owner and specific site conditions while allowing for an economic and reliable delivery – in short, houses to be purchased online similar to a car purchase.

The architectural concept therefore focuses on house designs based on the assembly of components such as a prefabricated structure and enclosure, a central core containing all relevant technical components such as heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, and home automation. The concept includes off-site fabrication and aspects of logistics, delivery, and installation.
